Doomben | April 2

Well that was a fair Tuesdays racing, love a midweek group 1. We are back to seven races and we will be racing on a soft 7 track although with rain predicted throughout the day, possible downgrades certainly on the cards.  The rail is out for eight metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.59pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1110M)

No bet, not keen at all.

Race 2: Benchmark 65 (1650M)

The mile here and a tough race here. La Cometa was really good first up over the 1400M at the Sunshine Coast and steps out here with a few nice runs on soft tracks. The wide draw should suit with the rail out as it probably will be the good ground after yesterdays meeting.

Race 3: Benchmark 65 (1650M)

Smart as Smart is best of the rest here. I cannot simply be with Godzilla here even though it gets all the favours. The aforementioned Smart as Smart loves this trip and from barrier two gets the run of the race and does appreciate the sting out of the ground.

Race 4: Class 1 (2050M)

It is about $4 the field here which again does not make it super easy and there’s first starters for the preparation going around like Dillian. Farwest has been solid in two runs in and while yet to win over this trip comes to town and with decent form on soft tracks and third up, today could be the day to get that second win.

Race 5: Class 2 (1350M)

We are keen to be with the favourite here in Antonito. He beat home Cho Oyu who was a good thing licked yesterday with just no clear air all the way down the straight. Draws the pole here and with in form jockey Noel Callow on board he can control this out in front and that should be all he wrote.

Race 6: Benchmark 65 (1200M)

Last preparation King Potter was one length of Give Me Space, so the $1.60 makes sense but take it with A Lot of Booty for the quinella, he has been building to this and with track conditions to suit from barrier three they will be rolling along together and probably just pair off.

Race 7: Benchmark 65 (1200M)

A few of the fancied chances here all like to go forward and a bust up is potentially on the card. I thought off the back of the field latest Iron Grace was actually pretty good help up behind them at Ipswich. They have opted for the three kilo claim and from the wide draw will have to go back and be rattling home late.
