Doomben | August 9

Off to Doomben we go again and it is a very shortened midweek card today with only seven races today. We will be racing on a good 4 track with the rail out six metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 1.08pm.

Race MAIDEN (1640M)

Pretty average race to start the day. I think Ben Thompson and James Orman fight it out and the latter has the horse that likes to go forward so if he gets away early on and can control the tempo of the race out in front on Brand New I think that could be the difference here.

Race 2: Benchmark 68 (2040M)

Pretty interesting race here, while we are low on runners in the race it is about four dollars the field so will be competitive. The race form I am going with is the race where two runners finished in behind Chayse ‘N’ Artie. Both Shezadani and Viadelamore finished in behind and there is a one kilo weight swing going the way of Viadelamore and for that reason have sided with him back on a good deck.

Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)

First starter city, absolute dart job, good luck.

Race 4: MAIDEN (1200M)

Going with the Surreal Ascot here. She was bloused down the outside last start but gets to this third up and draws the pole. She does pick up a few kilos here but from that draw she should be able to control the race from out in front and sticks to the 1200M trip.

Race 5: Class 4 (1200M)

Keeping it simple here, Shamaton has form around Ned’s Gully from last start and does not always run well first up but it was a good run. Orman jumps aboard and from a middle draw Orman will be able to camp off them and there looks to be a lot of tempo to set this up perfectly for a final assault.

Race 6: Benchmark 70 (1350M)

Well fair to say we are hoping that Orman has another really good day because we are with him again here. Lucky Exchange beat home Hokahey who was pretty impressive last weekend at Eagle Farm. Once again draws well in barrier one and while he doesn’t lead he should be handy in the run and is three wins from five starts over this trip.

Race 7: Class 1 (1350M)

Just back the favourite here should be two from three after last start and a bumping duel up the straight and still fighting on at the Sunshine Coast. Orman once again jumps aboard, the bloke could deadest ride the card here today. John Rambo, lets go!
