We have had ourselves about fourteen fully cancelled meetings in the last few weeks and that means we will be finally racing at Doomben again. Due to the cancellations we also get treated to a nine race card and we will be racing on a heavy 9 track. The rail is out three metres for entire course and the first race to jump at 12.00pm.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1200M)
Absolute nope here on a heavy deck first or second run for most of these, happy to watch them go around.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1200M)
Happy to have a crack in this race, third up here for Spellhound and drawn the widest but given weight relief from Collis and will go forward from the wide draw which with the rail only out three metres could be the place to be.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)
Cool Archie has drawn absolutely awful here but is the class in the race and should be too good for them. Will jump and roll forward from the draw and was three and half lengths off O’Ole in the millions and prior was one and half lengths Icarian Dream which looks too good for these.
Race 4: Restricted 65 (1110M)
I am going to play Alpha Bravo here with the weight relief as it will sit handy from the draw appears to get the right run here. Can camp off the speed and if they can run on like they couldn’t that day at the Gold Coast then he can be winning here, #tegridy.
Race 5: Benchmark 68 (2020M)
Chillaxing was really good for us last start but drawn very wide here just seems to spells trouble here and for that reason siding with Waverley who has form on the heavy and will appreciate the step out in trip for the Thornton team.
Race 6: Class 1 (1350M)
We are sticking with Cho Oyu here, was absolutely awful the run last start stuck behind them and strung up. With the low draw here and clear air and a solid enough run on the soft track I think he can win this with the step out in trip.
Race 7: Class 1 (1350M)
Pretty tough race this and while I am not a huge fan of the horse, Caxton Lass on the quick back up looks the play here. The pace is all drawn out wide and from barrier five she can sit much closer and with form on soft and heavy tracks and the in form Wheeler on board, that is the play here.
Race 8: Open Quality (1350M)
She was the Bazinga on Saturday and they never got to run, so minor set back there but on this tack with the heavy deck and Cejay on board I am sticking with Autumngirl. If she comes across and sits behind Maragical then can pop off around the bend they won’t see which was she goes.
Race 9: Open Quality (1350M)
Here we go again with the half sister Miss Jolene, she goes like a bomb fresh. The slop absolutely does her wonders and she always runs very well at Doomben. She may be in a slightly sticky spot from the draw but if Cejay can get her slightly closer in the run then lookout late.
