Well if you survived Stradbroke week like the mugs did we are still breathing fire and ready to crack into another midweek meeting. We have eight races that will be run and won and we are running on a soft 5 track with the first race to jump at 12:33pm AEST.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1110M)
Well in this first start-a-thon the mugs will watch and see if there is something that we can follow further into the winter.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1110M)
In the second a similar race to the first but we all need to get behind the Mozza here who has a share in number 14 Like a Lark. While he definitely will prefer it over a bit further it is a nice starting point this prep against mostly untried horses. He will be running on late so keep an eye out for the Munce colours.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)
This is a pretty hard race to assess. Obviously there is a fair bit of hype about Primal Lockdown after that really dominant trial win. He comes up against the well tested Gollan runner in Ambitious Spirit and those two pretty much control the market. I am going to take on trust the O’Dea & Hoysted runner here so lets get the shorts about the first starter home.
Race 4: Class 1 (1050M)
I am happy to side here with the raider in Rapid Response. She beat home Kindling Spirit who is also in the market and they are both drawn super. With runs under the belt and the same trip with no weight advantage I think she can win. It is noted that Snappy Reply returns from a long let off so keep her safe but I would need to see her back to her best to take the $3.50 about her.
Race 5: Class 2 (1660M)
A nice mid week race here and I think the market probably has it upside down a bit. We all know how up and down Tarex can be winning one then gets beat then wins the next but he was just very good first up. He gets to a trip here he has excelled at and should be able to just sit off Majestic Colour who should lead them off. Fingers crossed they are running on otherwise Majestic Colour could steal this one. Special mention to Gauntlet for one of mugs Gaby, best of luck!
Race 6: 0 – 65 Handicap (1350M)
We will be passing in this lottery event that is the sixth today, there are twelve in the race and probably all of them are half a chance of winning $5.50 the field offers no confidence. For the desperados out there Lloydy like Amathuba last start and wasn’t an awful run so I would be leaning that way if you are keen to play.
Race 7: Class 3 (1350M)
Well a couple of weeks ago I gave out four of my favourite “let me down” horses here in the Sunshine State and they all managed to run in the first four. Fair to say I didn’t have a penny on but we can win some dollars today here with one of them. Whozyadeeler was closing nicely over the concluding stages and while drawn wide the extra 150M and fitness should have him primed.
Race 8: Class 4 (1200M)
El Vencedor has to be a bet out of the Fred Best surely. Yes the horse ran third last beaten 5.15 lengths but wasn’t far behind a few very nice types and the form stacks up with Kiss Sum on the weekend. Third run in Australia here, likes to go forward and in a race that doesn’t have wild pace can control this and just be too strong at a nice price.
