The BIGGEST week in Queensland racing is here yes, that is right, STRADBROKE WEEK and this mid-week card is the lead in. We are running on a soft 6 track with the first race to jump at 12:20pm AEST.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1350M)
Tough to start and for that reason we might be late to track early and give this one a miss.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1350M)
Well that first is followed by an equally tough maiden here and while I think Allberin comes into this off some ok last prep form I don’t think it is a bet race here.
Race 3: Benchmark 72 (1650M)
Well if there is a stable going better in town than the Currie stable the last few weeks I could be off base here but they have been flying. The Toowoomba team comes to town here with Factory Warrior and down in class barrier 4 and KWT are a nice recipe. Loves this trip, handles the ground and will be on pace, I just think it’s a nice bet at the price.
Race 4: Benchmark 70 (1050M)
Well we head back to well here with one all the mug fans would have heard us carry on about since she started going around. Came out as a maiden and brained them at Grafton against the older horses over this trip then ran into a couple of smart ones. Starts here over a similar trip and with the small field and pace on she will camped off them and just be too strong late, Fetch is a good thing here.
Race 5: Class 5 (1050M)
I think we need to back up here into Red Rubi, another for the O’Dea & Hoysted yard. She has a sublime record over the trip, absolutely flies first up and with all the pace drawn in should be able to settle out of the gate just off them and be flying down the outside late, fingers crossed they can run on at Doomben today.
Race 6: Benchmark 68 (1200M)
This is a pretty even race and I think the draw is key. Maxcalemma is a nice horse but barrier 12 over 1200M at Doomben is not the right recipe. Applecross however down in class from last start and up in trip are both big ticks. Has handled this track before and while 1350M is a pet trip if there is enough pace should be too strong in the concluding stages. A couple of starts ago beat home Fast Talking who has since one.
Race 7: Class 1 (1200M)
Well there are omen bets and then there is this omen bet. Queenslander on the day of State of Origin. It is pretty simple Queenslander wins this one, was impressive last start and with the omen gods watching over will salute here.
Race 8: Class 3 (1200M)
I think it is a race in two here and this is the top two in the market. One goes forward and the other goes back and that has me a little worried about Sinba. I think off the back of that you have to side with Snitzify because he will just be much handier in the run. Love the track and trip and the form around Seleque is stacking up and was a nice winner last start. Same trip so fitness will be no issue and will be too strong here.
