Doomben | June 7

Well it is the biggest day in Queensland racing coming up this weekend with the Stradbroke handicap coming up on Saturday. Before we get there however we are back at Doomben for this midweek card and we will be racing on a soft 5 track with the rail out ten and half metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 11.45am.

Race MAIDEN (1200M)

Jim Conlan has a few pretty smart horses and Kiko looks like she is. She comes out of two back to back Group 3 runs in behind two fancies in the Stradbroke and that is probably where the short quote is drawn from. With Ben Thompson on she gets her chance here.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1200M)

The race of the bridesmaids, enough said pass this race.

Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)

Last start we tipped Hinata for Gollan and Thompson and they stick as the combination here. She worked to the line nicely but did appear to knock up late. The filly is second up here and drawn to be closer in the run I think at the price we can play each way again.

Race 4: MAIDEN (1660M)

Houston Rocket was ultra impressive last start but I loved the fight of Encompass and with Orman sticking from barrier 6 I am happy to dive in at the price he should be winning.

Race 5: Class 4 (1660M)

Well the form here is the Brigantine race. Sunfall race second on that occasion and has since come out and franked that form and I think Eaglemont from a much kinder draw can be miles closer an if he finishes off like he did last start he should be too classy here with Nash Rawiller sticking in the saddle.

Race 6: Benchmark 68 (1200M)

The favourite wins, was so god damn impressive last start multi banker or enjoy the watch either way Mintaka Lad!

Race 7: Benchmark 68 (1200M)

The favourite should be fighting this one out particularly if Eaglemont wins earlier as that will frank the form around Hatchet and make him hard to beat. Both of them will go forward but in a tough on speed battle I am siding with Hatchet of Black Beauty with the fitness edge on this side.

Race 8: Class 6 (1350M)

This is a hard race to assess I have sided with Nishikori after getting it done at Murwillambah last start and getting Nash in the saddle. From the gate he can be on the pace which is where both Nash and Nishikori do their best work and from there control the tempo and ping away late.

Race 9: Class 1 (1350M)

Not keen this race but do think Crazy Brave could be pretty smart, go short for the last leg of the quaddie.
