Big weekend ahead with what looks like one of the greatest Golden Slippers to date. We head back to Doomben and have soft 6 track with the rail out six metres and the first race to jump at 1.34pm.
Race 1: Class 3 (2000M)
Think we have to side with Gripping here he has one two in a row and that is two of his three wins in seventeen starts. He should be able to sit one out one back and with two starts over a similar trip and both wins pretty impressive he looks a good bet here.
Race 2: Class 2 (1200M)
Tough race this and going with another Toowoomba runner here in Kitri. She has drawn in barrier one and from the close draw and getting out to a suitable trip and with nice soft track form and prior form around Defiant Spirit and Acres Away she looks a good bet here.
Race 3: Benchmark 65 (1350M)
Well Gospel Girl should have been a bet last start at $81 with Gollan and Orman and here probably the $9 is a bet again but just looks too hard in a big field. Happy to sit on the sidelines here.
Race 4: Benchmark 68 (1600M)
Ichiban comes of two pretty average trials but was very tough last start to hold on late against Discover. Stays at the 1600M and with fitness on his side and barrier one he should be camped straight behind the pace and Orman stays on and he drops three kilos going up in grade so I am happy to stick with him here.
Race 5: MAIDEN (1350M)
Lottery alert!
Race 6: MAIDEN (1350M)
This is just another shocker so once again we are steering clear.
Race 7: Class 2 (1350M)
Patton is simply just a very good bet here. This preparation he has had two goes at 1400M with no success and the one start at 1350M he won. He loves this track as well and draws low to camp behind the pace which there will be and we have arguably the in form jockey in the state with Ryan Maloney on board.
