Doomben | March 8

Well it is fair to say the Mugs need to lift back at Doomben, it used to be where the magic happened but our focus turned to headquarters and its been left behind. We are back there today and we will be racing on a Good 4 track with the rail out 9.5m for the entire course with the first race is to jump at 1.38pm AEST.

Race 1: Class 5 (1650M)

Ghostwriter comes up here at the short price, almost odds on and Hokahey form is not the strongest after going down over the weekend. Flying Joy comes to this third up and is 2/2 over this trip and reaching peak fitness she can be winning again in here and at the price is definitely a bet.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1650M)

Absolutely not keen here at all over a tricky distance, pass.

Race 3: Benchmark 65 (1350M)

Keen on Argyle Pink here for the Gollan yard. Is second up here and is 1/1 over this trip. The wide draw does not suit but she has early tempo and if she can cross this lot then she will prove very hard to hold out here over the trip.

Race 4: MAIDEN (1200M)

Just too many first starters or second starters in this race to bet with any confidence.

Race 5: MAIDEN (1200M)

Tribeca Star at the price comes up the odds price of $1.60 and while that looks unders the form around him is far superior to this race so add him to any multis.

Race 6: Class 3 (1110M)

Pretty keen on Baldassare here and interestingly Ben Thompson jumps ship off to Stellar Magic so that could be a push but with James Orman jumping on board and barrier two I cannot jump off at the $5, and keen on a bet here.

Race 7: Benchmark 65 (2060M)

Snatch was a pretty good run last start and with form over this trip in the past he looks like a bet here. From the barrier he can use the early speed and if he unleashes that turn of foot late from a closer run in transit he will be winning this.

Race 8: Benchmark 65 (1350M)

Sha of Gomer once again comes up the favourite here but that form around Rock Lobster doesn’t instill me with a stack of confidence. I am pretty keen on Divine Courage against the odds on pop in this race. His form has been superior and with Noel in the saddle and barrier two he will be able to box in the favourite who may find trouble and am keen the Edmonds trained gelding.
