Doomben | October 16

Big weekend of racing coming up and its bank building Wednesday at Doomben and we get eight races to fill our pockets pre the Everest. We will be racing on a soft 6 track with we have the rail out ten and a half metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.48pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1050M)

Unraced two year olds, we wish you well.

Race 2: MAIDEN (2070M)

We liked the form around Misting for last Saturday and while the run didn’t really stand up off them and out the back was not the place to be, still think that form is sound and for that reason siding with Savannah Gangster here for Kenrick and Collis with the three kilo claim.

Race 3: Benchmark 68 (1660M)

Smaller field here but should still be a competitive little race. Blazen Boots with the cut in the ground and sticking to the I mile with the claim should be winning here, absolutely flies at Doomben.

Race 4: Class 1 (1350M)

Not sure what to make of this race, Ivy Dexstress can be winning but at only her third start taking the $1.40 on offer even in this field is brave. Watch and see if there is a new star on the rise.

Race 5: MAIDEN (1110M)

Sydney form, low draw, early speed and the hope that we get Jimmy back winning again for the mugs. Keen to play Bundella here, Gollan has had a lot of success bringing horses up from down South, and while the quote is skinny he goes on top.

Race 6: Benchmark 78 (1200M)

We were keen on Rainbow Connection last start and while the step back in trip is less than ideal this race looks to have a bit of tempo. Can I Am Artie keep the picket fence going, we hope not and are backing in the Mallyon Dunn combination here at an each way price.

Race 7: Class 1 (1350M)

Acappella Nova looks pretty smart and Street Chase has since won so the form through that race looks pretty strong. He draws barrier two here and as long as that form stands up here, take the price it will be winning.

Race 8: Benchmark 65 (1200M)

Keen on the Kris Lees trained Strapparsi here. From the low draw and with the useful claim from Jasper Frankline she gets in pretty well here. She was great last start behind Lost His Beans who is in good form and can sit a handy compared to key rivals here. While a step out in trip would be useful a solid record at Doomben suggests she will be very competitive at the price.
