Eagle Farm | June 29

The Brisbane Carnival is over and we are heading back to headquarters where the Snowden team dominated. We have nine races to sift through on a big mid-week card, but its fair to say there isn’t loads of quality as the off season kicks into gear. The nine races that will be run and won will be on a Good 4 track with the rail out 10 metres, while the first race is set to jump at 11:58am AEST.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1000M)

The firing O'Dea & Hoysted team have a short-priced favourite in the first but it will be a nice watch race to start the day.

Race 2: Maiden (1200M)

The second race is similar to the first with a stack of first starters who are very hard to split. Two big yards in Neasham and Waller line up the against each other, but the Fogden runner leads the market. Happy to unearth a potential star but it will not be with our money on.

Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)

A similar event here but I don’t mind the Schweida runner Idoneus. It led them off in a merry gallop last start and just tired late. It will be better for the run and with barrier 7 and a dry deck he might just be too sharp for this lot second up at a nice price.

Race 4: Benchmark 68 (1400M)

Another even affair but on paper King Hammurabi looks to get this all his own way. He will jump in front and be leading, so in a race that looks to lack pace I think this is another good bet at a decent price. He will give you a sight and the record of two wins from two starts this trip suggests he’ll run a strong 1400m.

Race 5: Maiden (1400M)

Surely Landsborough Lad gets it done today. There is one simple reason why this is the case - Badgers Nuts form. First go this track is a slight query but the form is on the board and barrier 6 should allow Maloney to track up behind them and then just be too strong late.

Race 6: Benchmark 68 (1000M)

This a pretty even race with a lot of chances. There is pace drawn in which should set it up nicely for horses who camp just off the speed. Single Memo had a super prep last time in but I think Zumikon, even though his record at Eagle Farm is ordinary, can take it out today. From the draw the classy Orman should be able to sit right on the leader's toes and three runs in this prep fitness will be peaking.

Race 7: Benchmark 68 (1500M)

Well there is absolutely bucket loads of speed in this race and if they all take each other on, Petunia could be the one. The five starts at the track for no placings is a massive concern but the race looks to set up perfectly for a run on horse to burn straight past this lot. With the big long straight and a nice dry deck, she will be mighty hard to hold out.

Race 8: Class 5 (1200M)

Well it is Go Wandji versus the rest but it’s a no bet race. Jury is out for me after the few runs earlier in the carnival, but if he is well then its pretty simple - he wins this race.

Race 9: Class 2 (1800M)

This race is a bit of a repeat of the run at the Sunny Coast a few weeks ago with a lot of the runners clashing again. The run out of that race that I thought was the best was Finsceal. He was absolutely trucking into final stages of the run and they found every backside he could. He is yet to get to this trip but what he had in the tank suggests an extra 200M will really let him go bang late and with even luck from a nice draw he can be winning this one.
