After cyclones and wild weather and then a short break from mid week write ups the mugs are back in business and back at headquarters for Wednesday. There are a monster nine races to get through and we will be racing on a soft 7 track although with rain predicted throughout the day, possible downgrades certainly on the cards. The rail is out for twelve metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.20pm.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1400M)
Couple of short priced things in the first but staying clear with minimal race experience.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1000M)
An almost follow up to the first over the shorter trip with even more unexposed form but am having a crack with Freedom to Roam here. The low draw and shift up from Sydney followed by a nice trial leading in may have this filly ready to go.
Race 3: Class 3 (1600M)
The favourite She’s Got Veuve should be hard to beat here but if there is one that will improve lengths on the we that is Tarex. Up in trip and on ground with a bit of give in it will surely significantly improve his chances.
Race 4: MAIDEN (1800M)
It is certainly becoming a bit sick but Chillaxing in a big play here. After two really encouraging runs at the Sunshine Coast, finally gets the wide expanses of Eagle Farm with any luck at all on a track with give in it, up against a absolutely cat in Possibilities she should be winning.
Race 5: Benchmark 65 (1800M)
Hillcrest Avenue on face value has been pretty disappointing this preparation and is only two from twenty one starts in his career. However two of those victories are on rain affected ground and these conditions today suit that. He sticks over the same trip and will be close in the run from barrier five.
Race 6: MAIDEN (1400M)
Another super tough maiden to assess. I will be taking two bets in this race in Champagne Tower, maybe for the last time as the prep has been a bit all over the shop but there is definitely ability here. We will also be saving on the favourite in Moscow Circus, if Matty Dunn is in town with one showing promise in a good maiden, we need to save on it.
Race 7: Class 5 (1200M)
There are any number of ways you could go here, I just thought Heroic Miss out of a benchmark 85 and then into an open quality race with the two kilo claim from Fenlon does look like a nice play here for the Munce team. She should get all the favours and loves the sting out of the ground.
Race 8: Class 4 (1400M)
Keeping it pretty simple for this one, Pioneer Lass. Matt Smith brings one to two that is three seconds from four attempts on the heavy and has won over this trip before. The form around Elba looks sound for a race like this and Bailey is flying so from barrier two if she stalks them and unleashes late, she could very hard to hold out here.
Race 9: Benchmark 70 (1000M)
First up starter here for the Gollan team in Sicilian looks to be a bet. Her last start she was three lengths off Commemorative and belted Saltaire who did take a while to get going up here but looked a class above when sound. She does pick up weight but with a kind draw and the claim from Lang happy to take the shorts about it.
