Headquarters here we come and we will be here a lot of the next few months as the Carnival rips into gear! Eagle Farm will be picture perfect today as we enter the first few winter mornings but once the frost clears come mid-morning the racing will be heating up. We will be racing on a good 4 track with the rail out ten and a half metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 11.27am.
Race Class 5 (1200M)
We are taking on the short priced favourite in the first here and jumping on the Orman train. Highland Son has been impressive in two starts at the Sunshine Coast and gets to Eagle Farm here from barrier three in a small field he will relish the dry ground and be hard to hold out here stepping out to the extra trip.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1200M)
A first starter with Orman on will jump favourite here but if Russian Sub had been able to run straight in his last start he would’ve broken that maiden status. After an upheld protest he was relegated but that was first up and second here on a good track and the in form Angela Jones on board happy to take the $3.70 on offer.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)
Happy to steer clear this race, but if you are keen for a bet here there was plenty of chat about the Heathcote runner Helikedempretty prior to her first start and she is still pretty strong in the market here.
Race 4: Benchmark 72 (1800M)
Just back Hokkaido with all that you can, two and bit lengths off Kovalica two starts ago and then went down to I’ve Bean Trying who was a certainty beaten on the first day of the Championships. The booking of Orman is a big push and second go out to the 1800M should be cherry ripe for this.
Race 5: MAIDEN (1800M)
Not keen this race, Parrallel should win, but also doesn’t seem tot want to win either.
Race 6: MAIDEN (1400M)
Similar race here over the 1400M, there is a lack of exposed form and class and for that reason we are staying out.
Race 7: Class 1 (1800M)
Leery looks a bet here even though we are taking on one of my favourites in Kronenbourg and also a mugs favourite in Security Advisor. Leery has the runs on the board and with a win over this trip two starts ago, and then just getting beaten on the post last start this mare should be two wins from three attempts this preparation. The booking of Angela Jones is perfect and from a middle draw gets all the favours here.
Race 8: Benchmark 68 (1600M)
Well Fearless Knight has Sir Carter form so that certainly makes him top of the pops but this race does appear fairly open. However we will be with Kinetic here. Was a nice winner last start at Ipswich just getting there and looks like the extra trip will really suit.
Race 9: Benchmark 75 (1400M)
Pretty hard race this but it is fair to say that Hallowed Girl a real roughie in this race has not been going well but that could change today. She has lacked form of late but with a strong second up record, a good track that she runs well on and a nice barrier so that she can be a little closer she is not out of this race by any stretch.
Race 10: Class 2 (1300M)
Finishing the day with another one at a bit of a price landing on Secret Note for the Thorntons. Safely held in a trial leading in with Fast Talking who has come out and won since. The capitalist mare will but sitting just off them but from barrier three will probably be closer this time.
