Eagle Farm | May 4

What a midweek day we have. ‘The Bool is in full swing down south and we get treated to a day at headquarters with the raiders really starting to fill the ranks up her. The champ Zaaki is back on the weekend but before we get to the Gold Coast lets rip in to Eagle Farm. We are running on a Good 4 and have the rail out nine metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12:28pm AEST.

Race 1: MAIDEN (2156M)

Well fair to say its not the easiest way to start the day. Enjouee and Hidden Smile lead the market the latter drifting out early in betting. I think the southern raiders though have superior form and with Enjouee’s best work on rain affected ground I am siding with Hidden Smile early. Will be able to sit just off them and should be too strong late.

Race 2: Benchmark 78(2218M)

Pretty poor showing for this race midweek at Headquarters. Five runners line up but just take the price about Street Dancer can win this one with little worry. The weight drop should have him very hard to beat.

Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)

Interesting and competitive race. I have sided with Delyth here after a nice last start third behind Arentee who franked the form by coming out and winning on Saturday. Will be much fitter and that was a hot race Arentee won so with any luck this mare will be pretty hard to beat.

Race 4: MAIDEN (1400M)

This race is an absolute lottery, there is no real standout and the market suggests similar. You would expect Majestic Colour from the draw should be able to make use of it and probably why it has come up favourite happy to stay out of this but if you’re having a bet here follow the money that will be telling the story here.

Race 5: Class 1 Plate (1600M)

Can Big Angel finally win for the mugs. Across the team I think we have tipped this horse on multiple occasions and yet to break the duck egg for us. Draws inside to get a cosy run in behind the speed which there isn’t much of that here. She ran third last start and stays at a similar trip here. With the form around Vitesse Francais it looks pretty strong for this race. The big danger is Anyway You Want it. Its pretty simple if the Toowoomba army come to town they are generally pretty confident.

Race 6: Benchmark 65 (1845M)

This is a pretty good race. I am going to side here with the Freedman trained Cognac who comes up from a last start third at Hawksbury. We saw on the weekend how good some of the southerners can be and this horse get in here with Maloney booked for the ride while its carrying weight it is in ok in my opinion. Will go forward from the gate and if he can control the tempo this will be game set match.

Race 7: Benchmark 70 (1400M)

Rathlin has come up favourite and is another one the airborne yard of O’dea & Hoysted have bought from down south. They keep turning these horses into stars and we could see another here. While he should be very hard to beat and 1400M is not necessarily this blokes go I have to side with Mosshiki again. Was very good last start and does prefer the mile but in a competitive with a bit of pace from barrier 7 he gets all the favours and comes up a nice price here around $9.50.

Race 8: Benchmark 78 (1000M)

We are going back to the well here with Delexo. Up from NSW won here first start over 1000M beating home Dusty Tycoon and Winside the latter who has form around Go Wandji will lines up well here. The run last start was just a bridge too far over the 1110M and it appears the shorter the better for him. Will ping the lids and with best form coming on a rock hard deck will be hard to beat here.
