THE RETURN to headquarters for a Wednesday meeting is finally here. We will be racing on a soft 6 track with the with the rail out eleven metres and the first race to jump at 12.00pm.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1000M)
Unraced not a clue in the world.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1200M)
When they are largely unraced two year olds there is only one way we turn, and that is straight to Mozzas trial hards. Siding with The Gambling Greek off the back of two nice trials leading in, Angela Jones aboard here and he can be winning this.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)
Mercian was very good first up and beat home Taltarni Fields and while I don’t love that horse it belted them last week at Ipswich. If that form holds up he will be better for the first up run and if he handles the sting out the $5 looks a pretty good price in a very even affair.
Race 4: Benchmark 70 (1800M)
Happy to be with Thesecondatportsea here for the on the drift lads. It has been good this preparation then came out and won smartly over the 1800M on a heavy Sunshine Coast track. With a low draw, and in form jockey on board he will be fighting out the finish.
Race 5: Benchmark 70 (1800M)
Keen to be with the well backed Hiyaam Proud who has been backed early. He was very good first up and comes through a nice trial leading into this and comes up here with Ethan Brown in toe. From a low draw he should be able to use the early speed to control this.
Race 6: MAIDEN (1400M)
This is a pretty difficult maiden again but I think a horse like Flywheel we could entertain from barrier nine. He was close in behind Exceed Speed who has been pretty good, and then was really good in behind Exotique Miss, Press Link and beat home Volcanic Love who was ok on the weekend.
Race 7: Class 5 (1500M)
One word, LEAD. Mozza has been talking about this for weeks on end about Brave Maso! Fenlon gets the ride, basically draws the pole, carrying absolute air, surely today is the day.
Race 8: Class 1 (1400M)
We get a bit of a price about South Sea and yes the form around him all comes out of Ipswich but he hasn’t done much wrong in four starts. He comes this race third up and from a low draw, with form on both soft and heavy tracks the conditions should suit. I think he should be one out and one back and be able to climb over them late.
Race 9: Benchmark 68 (1200M)
Taking a gamble to end the day and going with Mission of Love after the recent trial behind Crypto Currency. She has had a long break post the last start behind Junqueira at the Gold Coast. The two attempts at this track have been without success but the better side of good will suit and at the price from a nice draw and Dolan on is a big tick.
