Well after a weekend of lockdowns and downpours of rain across the state that were big enough to wash away Noahs Ark we are headed back to the hallowed turf of Eagle Farm. With the rail out 10.5 metres and a Good 4 expected this could be a tough day for punters. IN the first two events we strike two year old maidens and while we sometimes get these right these appear a step above even for the mugs. I will note though the form around Millward in the second looks strong but poison odds at the $2.70 in that field.
Divine Eleven gets in nicely in the third race and comes off a sharp 1st up win. Has a super record at the trip and happy to play here taking on the shorts about the Lee Freedman trained Safeeya. The form around Divine Eleven has been good with Embers franking it last Wednesday with a midweek victory. Another maiden comes up in race four and once again with so much unexposed form it would simply be a guess jumping into this one.
One of the mugs Waller favourites Prospectus goes around in the fifth and while he comes in well here there was a nice one that looked to peak on his run last start. The Irons ran super last start behind that close finish of East Asia down the outside and looked to peak late. Has a really nice record over this distance and finally gets a good surface to show his best. Will be close enough in the run and unleash the finishing sprint at a pretty nice price.
The benchmark 65 looks to be a pretty nice race and a few of the local battlers are lining up again. Scathing should lead them off from the inside and could prove hard to catch but I simply cannot go past Plenty’s record over this track and trip. Will be off the pace and will need pace on which he should get. Has the best closing splits of the field and if Brad gets the splits late the $10 on offer looks massive overs.
Not sure if anyone remembers Rotator but looked a good prospect back early 2019 and now is with the Vandyke stable and comes up the shorts here in the seventh. Its not a bet race here for mugs but will be interesting to see what Vandyke can do to reignite her career and get her firing, big WATCH!
In the penultimate Spirit of Boom for the three year old’s it is the weight of Boom Spender versus the rest. The 61.5 kilos looks to spell disaster for Boom Spender but he has been good to us and from the inside draw will be either leading or holding the inside rail in the run. From here Byrne will be able to give him room in the final 300 and he should be winning from there. With the superb first up record looks a nice bet.
To round out what is a very tough card we have a class one with that many lightly raced horses and for that reason will leave it at Eaglefarm here and begin launching into the last couple at Belmont.
