Another day another Eagle Farm Good 4 to contend with and with the rail out ten metres this meeting is going to be very interesting. The first event is maiden to kick off the day and with loads of first starters a rail in that position and the ever changing track conditions at Eagle Farm it’s a pass mark from the mugs, but keen to see how trial performer Single Memo goes. The second a very small field lines up in the open handicap over 1400M and while Catesby was pretty impressive winning last start this race looks setup for another to be very hard to beat here. I am of course talking about Peppi La Few. Ran a super second to Phobetor who went to Sydney and won and has since unfortunately been retired and then has come out with another two sharp seconds one in behind Royal Hale who has stacked up in races since. It is the shorts here at around the two dollar quote but should be winning this from the inside draw.
We follow this handicap up with two more maidens and in all honesty these races are a lottery unless you have some information from the stable with a race that is four dollars the field on a track that presents its own concerns the mugs just want to steer clear. We quickly move onto the fifth even here and with a lot of speed here we do still like the up and coming Contemptuous for the O’dea and Hoysted team. Once again we don’t have the spoils with the price but second to Tramonto who has since run in behind Desert Lord in the Gold Market stacks up well against this relatively exposed field.
A Toowoomba raider who was scratched first up looks to get his chance in the sixth event with Sir Warwick lining up for Jake Capewell. Was well backed first up then wouldn’t go in the barriers and now they bring him to town for a midweek suggesting he is ready to go first up after a nice trial win. Happy to take a chance in a very open field.
In the penultimate we look to some of our black booker form and a former Lloydy favourite in Lunasnit. Comes through the race last start when it went down a pimple to Top Order who came out last weekend at Doomben and proved why black bookers cash cheques. Happy to be with here even over the shorter trip as she will be able to take the running up here and with those nice closing splits the $7.50 on offer looks a spoil.
Go Wandji looked a perfect way to finish off the day but with scratchings claiming her the mugs are passing on the final event on the card. Good luck mugs!
