Ipswich | April 19

Well Doomben and Eagle Farm have been treating us of late but for this midweek card we head out to Bundamba racecourse again, the home of the Royal Ipswich Turf Club. We will be racing on a good 4 track with the rail out four metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 11.25am.

Race MAIDEN (1100M)

Maiden to start the day, when in doubt follow the bigger stables but with a few debutants best to save our money here.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1100M)

Copy and paste from above, but there has been a fair push for the Sears runner here, Mr Thompson could have a good start to the day.

Race 3: MAIDEN (1350M)

Well I hate to say it again but we cannot be launching in here either, the favourite is a first start for Orman and Kendrick which is a good combination but the rest are an absolute lottery.

Race 4: MAIDEN (1666M)

Cannot bet with confidence here either.

Race 5: Benchmark 65 (1350M)

The odds on pop here from the Taylor stable will be hard to beat but A Call From Heaven with the claim, super record second up and two from two at the track and distance is definitely a bet, she should be able to sit just off the speed and be too strong late.

Race 6: MAIDEN (1350M)

Pretty hard race to assess but the favourite was beaten home by Nagamie last start and while there is a weight swing against the aforementioned gelding from barrier 14 if he gets back and there is plenty of pace up front it may actually suit him better not having to do all the donkey work trying to catch the short priced leader.

Race 7: Class 1 (1666M)

We have been trying to catch Kronenbourg the last two midweek cards and lets go again here. Draws to do no work, out over further will suit, last chance though!

Race 8: Benchmark 70 (800M)

Blink and it will be over in this 800 metre contest. I am siding with Iced here at a price who is first up coming out of a trial behind Thawra the favourite. He has drawn well and while his best form is second up and he may be just one run short here he has always run super at Ipswich over this track and distance and can give this a real shake.

Race 9: Benchmark 65 (1350M)

Tough race here with a bit of exposed form particularly at the track. Siding with Birdonawing from the rail draw with Sammy Collett on coming off a nice first up win she should be able to control this out in front and with a super record here at Bundamba be very hard to hold out.

Race 10: Class 4 (1200M):

Brodie Loy is flying at the moment and I think he can get the chocolates for us in the last. Snazz ‘n’ Charm is hard to catch but when you do its usually at Ipswich with 2 of his 3 win coming at this track. Another horse that has drawn to do no work and can sit just behind the pace and explode late will top of the day nicely.
