We head west for this Queensland mid-week event and off to Bundamba racetrack. Looks a nice building block leading into a belter weekend with a stacked field for the Victory Stakes. We are running on a Soft 5 though with any luck will be upgraded throughout the day and have the rail out seven metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12:33pm AEST.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1700M)
It’s a tough race to start the day with a Waller runner and Jimmy Orman in the saddle looks hard to go past but with Swear On A Promise the hot favourite it looks as though they will fight out the finish.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1660M)
We tipped this filly last time in at Ipswich and looked the winner early on. In that race was in behind Swear On A Promise who is the red hot favourite in the first. With fitness peaking third up and that form line looking strong for the day then I think Capital Girl is worth another chance at the each way quote.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)
This lightly raced maiden is simply a pass for me, just too hard.
Race 4: Class 3 (1350M)
Think Glory was ok first up but is not a first up horse generally and does take a while to get going. Tudor Music since came out on Anzac Day and won and it was in behind Think Glory. She is two from two at the track and distance and never missed this track, loves Ipswich and will be winning.
Race 5: Benchmark 70 (1700M)
Fast Talking lines up again here and cost us big time last start in the blanket finish. He does get weight on Raging Pole here so should he get the trip will have him covered. I think Rhyme Time is the key runner here. With back to back wins and flying at the moment he will be camped in behind them and get the last crack, he looks a nice price.
Race 6: Class 6 (1200M)
A few of these came to battle last start including Nicci Trix who is drawn poorly and Smart Image who was pretty disappointing. Last start winner Miss Mckinley gets all the favours from the draw but I think the second favourite in the market in Georgie’s Pride is the bet here. Comes out of a pretty hot race last start at the Gold Coast MM event and flies fresh post winning her most recent trial. Will be leading or outside Miss Mckinley and the $3.80 looks a spoil.
Race 7: Class 1 (1200M)
Interesting race here with a few of these largely unknown to me. The favourite Devastating has come back pretty well this prep and with two solid hit outs will be reaching peak fitness. There has been subsequent winners from that last start fourth at the Sunshine Coast so going with that. Draws poorly but with a genuine lack of tempo here if he jumps well he should be able to get across and park outside or behind the leaders but a drying surface would be the big push.
Race 8: Benchmark 65 (1100M)
A black booker from last prep comes up here in Single Memo and I am pretty keen on her. With a classy win in town over Tesaura and Menazzi and then a nice second to Blackjack Boom who is proven the form does stack up well for this. Gets the claim with Jaden on board and should be rock hard fit after two recent trials the latter which she won. Will be ready first up and should prove extremely hard to beat.
