Well Doomben and Eagle Farm have been treating us of late but for this midweek card we head out to Bundamba racecourse, the home of the Royal Ipswich Turf Club. We will be racing on a good 4 track with the rail out ten metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.32pm.
Race 1: 0 – 65 Handicap (1710M)
There are only six two start in the first race of the day but it is a pretty competitively priced market. I have settled on one of our favourites who while probably isn’t suited by the tight turner track at Ipswich will be aided by a bit of tempo and a smaller field. Port Mourant on top here, he was very good behind Sleigh Queen and Security Advisor first up and out in trip really suits.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1350M)
Jackson on Time favourite, enough said, pass.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1350M)
The race is pretty interesting but I am simply trusting the Naval Trader from here and going with the favourite in Simple Way. Barrier 10 is certainly sticky but if Ben can cross them then third up here he should just simply be too strong.
Race 4: Benchmark 65 (2210M)
There is a fair bit of form crossover here and with a slight lean to Galifianakis just with the win over the track and trip in the past and the claim from AJ really helps here. He should lead and if left alone at all will just be too hard to run down, makes it four in a row here.
Race 5: MAIDEN (1200M)
A hard race to assess here but with Ashely Morgan coming out to Ipswich to ride from Matthew Dunn the son of Spirit of Boom here in I Say Boom is where I have landed. He won a Randwick trial and with two fourth placings at Hawksbury and coming to Ipswich this looks like a kill job. Gets a dry track here which will should and from barrier three all the options will be Morgans late in the race.
Race 6: MAIDEN (1200M)
The favourite is the first starter for the Gollan team, I think we just stay out and follow the money late if you are having a play.
Race 7: Class 1 (1350M)
Well I mean Kronenbourg was our best a few weeks ago and technically won the race although Benny wasn’t aboard at that stage. We get barrier three here and out to perhaps a slightly more suitable trip I think the stable mates fight it out here with the big K taking it down.
Race 8: Class 4 (1350M)
Well this is getting boring I did think that Tidal Rush here was a bet and probably is at the price but was beaten in a race back at Eagle Farm and finishing in front of him on that day was Ocean Emperor who gets a weight swing in his favour for this race. That said Tidal Rush does have the rails run, siding with the favourite here.
Race 9: Benchmark 68 (1200M)
Good luck here, field of about fifty runners and I think the mugs have backed all of them in the past, when in doubt back the number 11 silks in the last. Green Reign it is.
