Ipswich April 9

We have had ourselves about two or three fully cancelled meetings in the last few weeks and that sends us out to the hallowed turf of the Ipswich Racing Club today. Due to the cancellations we also get treated to a huge ten race card and we will be racing on a soft 6 track. The rail is in the true for the entire course and the first race to jump at 11.23am.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1110M)

First starters maiden to begin the day, no thanks.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1200M)

Going to back the favourite here in Noble Decree, from the low draw and with the early speed he possesses if he can control this he will be too hard to catch. The form around Apuntar from last preparation looks pretty smart in this race.

Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)

More for Ready also has decent form for a race like this and as I expect the rail to be fire early today drawn in will be absolutely key. She was stiff not to win first up and there have been subsequent runners through that race and just pen last start. Camp of the pace and let rip with 200m to go.

Race 4: Class 1 (1100M)

The ride will need to positive from the draw but if KWT goes forward and holds a position with Writty she could peak here third up. There looks to be a bit of pace but with her finish last start and any improvement she can take this race out.

Race 5: Class 1 (1100M)

Teaming up with the Gollan yard here in Spartus. He was strong through the line albeit over 800M last start. While there is a significant shift in the draw here being much wider than last start, there does appear at least on paper to be a lack of tempo. Hoping Angela Jones can jump well and get across, if that happens and the rail is fire, strap yourself in.

Race 6: MAIDEN (1666M)

The famous 1666M here and once again the A team in Jones and Gollan looks the play here. Dubais Miss was brave leading them last start in what was the worst part of the track. She fought on well to hang on for third in first start and with that run under the belt another soft draw she can break the maiden today.

Race 7: MAIDEN (1666M)

Jack Bruce coming from the Maher team knows how to get these middle distance runners going and Casterly Rock could be another here. He was great first up, peaked on the run second up after coming wide around the corner. From the pole draw today they can be more positive and hold a position which will see him run over the top of them late.

Race 8: Class 2 (1666M)

Going to play this two way, Puccini Dream is a bet if they are any chance of running on at this stage, but if not then Express Payment could just jump lead and win with the in form Noel Callow on board.

Race 9: Class 5 (1350M)

Praying for a crazy speed up front here which will set it up for one of the mugs favourites in Quothquan. He will definitely be back in the run and winding up late but inside looks like they’ll run it quick and he can just go straight back from the draw and with even luck blouse past them in the final stages.

Race 10: Benchmark 70 (1200M)

Emily finished day with a winner Saturday and she will do it again here aboard Anavinci. A hot tempo should ensue early with a few speedy types and this will set it up for Cherry Rose and Anavinci. The latter comes through a nice race with subsequent winners and will get run of the race from barrier three.
