Well we have been spoilt at Doomben and Eagle Farm for our midweek racing but today we are back out at Bundamba Racecourse or as we call it Royal Ipswich. We will be racing on a soft 5 track with the rail in the true position for the entire course and the first race to jump at 11.58am.
Race Handicap (1350M)
Black Minto come up favourite here and while drawn the pole comes out of the listed Phoenix in early June and then backed it up with a tight second to Transatlantic, not sure what price it starts here but would be favourite. With two runs at the track prior and early tempo to offset its wide gate it can be winning here.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1100M)
Well you would like to think it’s a simple as Kai Tak and with James Orman on it should be but at $1.60 this is a stay away race.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1350M)
The top should sort this one, I am with the favourite in Peony Surprise just with the two runs prior leading in. She will be at peak fitness and staying at the same trip will be might hard to hold out here.
Race 4: MAIDEN (1350M)
Impossible race this one, and with Guru Class going around again we are staying away. The horse doesn’t like winning but if anyone can get it home KWT can. Ammand was pretty good last start in a nice field and can run well again.
Race 5: Benchmark 70 (800M)
The classic Ipswich 800M dash. Idoneus was good last start but drew the pole and just fell in and for that reason while this opinion will be unpopular I don’t see why Ditmas cannot run a bold race from barrier 2. He goes up in weight the nine year old but comes out of a race behind King Klaus and then followed by a beaten margin of five lengths behind Rubiquitous, that form looks strong for a race like this.
Race 6: Class 4 (1666M)
Class 4 here over a bit more than the mile and the track specialist in Pick Za Beans lines up with Sam Collett on board. There will be tempo in this race and even though she does like to get back this mare she has won twice and had two minor placings from five attempts here at Ipswich and for that reason goes on top.
Race 7: Class 17 (1666M)
Vintage Choice is carrying the weight of a nation but with Oakfield Waratah winning on the weekend the form from that race is strong. The barrier will give Maloney options and he will be hard to hold out.
Race 8: Class 2 (1100M)
Absolute lottery here, pass!
Race 9: 0 – 65 (1200M)
Wow what a race, there badgers nuts, enablers, sugarpiehoneybunches and a la petite missile. I am not which of these names I like most but as far as horses go Tiritiri seemed to figure it out at the end of last preparation and while this race is short of his best trip Orman on for Waller is a nice sign and he goes on top.
