The mid-week lottery continues and today we make our way out to Bundamba race track. While the clouds cover the city and we have had very little rain the track is listed to play as a soft 5. We have eight races that will be run and won and with the rail out 8 metres it will be no disadvantage to be drawn out, with the first race to jump at 12:33pm AEST.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1350M)
The first race there is one here who is down from a last start in Rockhampton and we can guarantee the Rocky King will be launching here. Miss Cinnamoncider came out and ran a gallant second beating home the well fancied Gollan runner Ambitious Spirit, what would it start here? Small field so no issues in regards to barriers and a repeat of that performance could see her winning this.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1350M)
Pretty hard race to line up here but after last starts effort we are happy to get back in the camp of Chasing Jackley. Was strong in the market last start at Toowoomba and won everywhere bar the post much to our disgust knocking us out of the quadrella that night. No reason with KWT on board and a nice claim he won’t go one better here with on pace favours from the barrier draw.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1350M)
Well by race three we should have a good gauge of where you need to be for the 1350M races and this one is interesting. Orman hops off Nishikori and jumps aboard Safeeya so that could be the push we need but Ourconi doesn’t do a lot wrong and soft conditions give him favours. Happy to watch this one.
Race 4: Class 2 (1700M)
The middle distance race is just a straight no bet here, if Wheels wins we will be shaking our heads but there is little to no confidence here.
Race 5: MAIDEN (1700M)
Another tough affair here but Written With Blood will really relish the step out to 1700M here. Was hunting the line down last start back in June and perhaps spacing runs suits him best. From barrier three he can be much closer in the run and use the nice closing speed to overcome these late at a nice price.
Race 6: Class 1 (1200M)
Yes this race is simply back up into Starzam again. Bin the last run on the synthetic it is simply a track you either handle it or you don’t and he just didn’t it is really that simple. Orman stays aboard and we get $2.90 this time to get our money back with interest, so just take it.
Race 7: Class 5 (1100M)
Red Rubi is a similar story to Starzam, I am not sure they will run her on a heavy again. She has had two starts now for two failures and while she was in the wrong part of the track maybe she just doesn’t like the going. From barrier three Boris might be able to hold a position over the shorter trip rather than going back to last and if she is clear late could absolutely blow this lot away.
Race 8: Class 1 (1200M)
It has been a while since I have been keen on a Waller runner up here in Queensland since the carnival but I think Prasiolite could reward us here. Comes through some nicer races down south and while has been beaten a fair way by Jojo Was a Man and Amathuba (previously running up here) this could be the starting point for this filly. Jim Byrne picking up the ride adds confidence and could be a targeted kill job by the stable.
