Well the Group 1s up here have started and with that the rain has started falling so a not so sunny Queensland this Saturday, but before we get there we have a cracker mid-week card at Bundamba racetrack. Yes that is correct out to Ipswich we go for this Wednesday meeting. We will be racing on a heavy 10 track with the rail out eight metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.33pm.
Race MAIDEN (1200M)
Good luck, heavy 10, maiden with mostly first starters, absolute dartboard job.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1200M)
If the favourite wins the first then the trial form has stacked up and the favourite here should be winning too but it is a race that is wide open again, particularly on the heavy deck.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1350M)
This is a low, low race. Strategic Success was going super last year with a nice second behind Majestic Requests and while this year has been lean he has run well first up in the past and does handle the sting out of the ground.
Race 4: Class 1 (1350M)
Another impossible race here but I am keen to side with the poorly drawn Sardegna for the Schweida team. With success on the heavy deck and a win at the track and distance previously points to a super showing here, and fingers crossed Jimmy Orman can offset the bad draw.
Race 5: Class 3 (1700M)
Kinetic has been good to us the last few starts but with the rain affected ground and Makedon drawn in barrier four with him proven on wet ground and the three kilo claimer engaged he will go very close and be hard to catch out in front.
Race 6: Benchmark 68 (1200M)
This race is absolutely wide open, in fact that is pretty much every race is similar. Amore Veloce for the Heathcote team appears massive overs here. We get the booking of Ben Thompson on board, barrier four and proven over this trip and conditions she will be in this for a very long way.
Race 7: Handicap (2200M)
The last start winner in Cours Vite should improve over the longer trip and won here last start. The query will be him getting back in the run at Ipswich but later on in the day the inside may be chopped out and the outside charging home could be the place to be.
Race 8: Benchmark 75 (1100M)
We are going to blast out in the last here. Last of the day and after the prior fill up we want to get a pocket full to launch come Doomben Cup Day. Grey Defence will lead here from basically the pole draw and with the three kilo claimer and chop in the ground he will be impossible to catch late in the day.
