Quality with a capital Q is the order of the afternoon at Mackay for your Friday, with seven races out of the Sugar City. The track is a Good 4 with the rail true the entire way. First race jumps at 1:42pm.
Best Bet: Race 2 #1 SHADOWEN
Nick Walsh has won 17 of his past 50, while the One Syndications boys have kicked off to a flyer, with four wins from just six runners, including this girl in the 100s & 1000s at the Sunshine Coast. She was too good for a quality maiden field that night, before running well at Doomben at her next start. She's been freshened, trialled well and strikes a very winnable Class 2 at Mackay. Hard to beat again.
Next Best: Race 4 #5 KING SAMUEL
I thought the Victorian form that King Samuel brings to Central Queensland is good enough to take care of a field like this. He is 12 months between runs, so fitness will for sure be a query, especially in this camp as they tend to have their runners go better deeper into the prep, but at the price I'm willing to take the risk. He will roll forward from the draw and be in it for a long way.
There's only 5% left in this fella, don't miss out!
Best Value: Race 6 #9 MEDIA EMPIRE
No knock on Queen Assassin, she is a deserving odds-on favourite and will be extremely hard to beat, but Media Empire should be second favourite in my humble. He is as honest as the day is long, and a recent jump out win at Rockhampton suggests he is back in good order following a fail in the Magic Millions Country Cup on the Gold Coast in January. The 1050m is ideal, and Mackay will suit. #GoWarwick
