Sunshine Coast Preview

Nine races will be run at the Sunshine Coast this afternoon. The track is rated a Soft 7 and the rail is out 10 metres for the entire course. With blue skies and warmer conditions, the club is hopeful of a track upgrade throughout the afternoon. The first two events on the program are 2YO maidens, so we’ve put a pen through both of those and will keep the powder dry for race three where our best bet of the day comes up. Les Ross’ Mishani Conman was home for all money last time out but was reeled in late by Without Thinking at this track. Jimmy Orman will take the 3YO forward, and with the drop back in trip, he should be making every post a winner on a track that will suit those on speed. He’s short enough; but the more you bet, the more you win!

The fourth and fifth races on the card have both been decimated by scratchings; so we won’t be betting there given the favourites look hard to beat in both but are unders now.

The sixth is another maiden but we are keen to have a bet here on one at double figures. Loud Noise should have broken through by now, but he keeps running into one or two better. Last start he found the 1000m too sharp early, before getting stuck in late and only missing by two lengths. The extra trip will be just what the doctor ordered and the sting out of the ground will help. $11s is a bet every day of the week!

Deep Scieva will jump, lead and win in the seventh; we won’t talk you out of having a bet, but he is short at $1.90 for a horse of his nature, but he may have worked out the racing game now he has a few wins under his belt. The next is a deadset lottery and it’s $4 the field. We are going to speck both of the Paul Butterworth-trained gallopers who sit at the tail end of the market. They both handle the conditions, get the advantage of a claim and the stable had managed a few long-priced upsets of late.

It wouldn’t be a Sunny Coast without a winner for the Queen of the Coast; Nat McCall. The last race of the day she will saddle up race favourite Magic Delta who will relish the Soft 7. Drawn perfectly under Steph Thornton, the filly will go straight to the front and you can go straight to queue to collect. Blast out in the last!!
