What a midweek day we have. The champ Zaaki returned on the weekend and we are into the Brisbane Winter Carnival with the first Group 1 up here in the rain drenched capital. We are running on the Synthetic track up at the Sunshine Coast and have the in the true for the entire course with the first race to jump at 12:33pm AEST.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1100M)
Well this first race is not one we are keen to launch into but if you were going to have a bet Bolt Action should lead from barrier three and prove very hard to catch, if there is rain about mud will kick up and in front will be the only place to be for this midweek card.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1100M)
Well if Lovelier cannot win this race its troubled times ahead I think, should be able to sit off them here but will be in this race for a very long way and gets the classy Jimmy Orman aboard for the Waller yard, should be too good but it’s a no bet race again.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1400M)
Yes it gets worse, no bet, lots of lightly raced horses and Birdonawing comes up the shorts here but that would go largely down to her second place to Nettuno two starts ago. Finally gets a good surface this time around and with early pace should be winning this on those form lines.
Race 4: Class 4 Handicap (2000M)
A tiny five horse race in the fourth and over the 2000M no less. Olympic Class is the identifiable leader here and does get the class Orman in the saddle. If he can control the tempo for the majority of this race and kick away on the turn should be hard to catch, a bit of value the $7.
Race 5: Class 3 Plate (1000M)
The speedsters line up here and there is only one horse in the field with any synthetic track form and that should hold Knockknee in good stead for this race. Will camp outside the leaders from barrier 7, will be in a couple with scratching’s and from the local Stuart Kendrick yard will be very hard to beat here with that form of the board. Loves this trip too.
Race 6: Benchmark 65 (2150M)
This is an interesting race with a few stepping up for the first time to this trip and a few coming back to the distance after stepping out. Kippax has a record on this track and is one win from one start and has only missed once this distance. He beat a few of these home the start before last will be able to position up behind Quotant, Accessory and Elegant Drover and will have the drop of them. As long as Dittman doesn’t have mud covered goggles into the straight should prove too strong for these.
Race 7: Class 1 Handicap (1400M)
This is a No Nay no bet race, impossible over this trip with these runners. Good luck.
Race 8: Benchmark 65 (1100M)
We finish the day with a benchmark 65 and there appears to be a lack of pace here. Marnu gets on and will bring a three kilo claim. From the draw the gelding will be able to dictate terms and has finished the last couple of races with a few speedy types and if he leads uncontested as the map suggests will be too fast for these.
