Righto Mugs, we‘re stuck in lockdown so we’re going to TIP THE CARD here at Royal Tipswich *winners optional

The rail is out 4.5m and it’s a heavy heavy track! The Mugs are telling all those jockeys out there reading that it will definitely be advantageous to be on speed!! We’ll see how that advice pans out!
Race 1 gets us moist with a fillies and mares maiden, wanderlust. With not a lot of exposed heavy track form here, it really is Mug Punting and we love it. Rose By Design is a 2 start maiden who was a beaten favorite last time out at Kilcoy, the 4YO upgrades to Bobby Fradd taking over an absolute laughable watch last start. Should sit in the first 3 or 4 and could have some upside in an ordinary field.
Race 2 we get the time honoured ‘Thanks to Ipswich QTIS HCP’. The market tells us it’s a race in 2 and certainly looks to be that way, Hinged we know loves to take up the early pace and looks to lead for fun here, it’s short but should be sweet. Bayerische might just be too far back.
We get another maiden on this star studded card, Elegant Drover was backed in on debut where nothing went right, missed the kick, got back to last and battled on well in the worst part of the track that day. Gets a chance at redemption here from Maloney, barrier 3 should give this gelding a chance to sit a bit more prominent in what’s another dartboard field.
Race 4 is a dash for cash over the 800m Ipswich Highway. Usually when you see Les Ross and a heavy track it’s a truckload job, but there’s two of them here! We’re looking outside the fancied pair and looking towards Avolonte. Last start was a fading finish at Eagle Farm after going out hard in front, her trial in between that run was sound, the stable mate Sacca heads to a handy race on Saturday, so leaning towards a speedy showing from 4 for the Mugs jock Jakey Bayliss.
Mr Stack has a stack of early speed; has chalked up a win at the track here and gets his chance to control this tempo. Seems to do his best racing on a softer track and will have the fitness edge on Somebody’s Girl who is yet to win first up.
Scratchings have decimated what looked to be a handy little race; Smart Meteor and Divine Eleven come out which leaves it Eelloh’s race to lose here. Boasts a 2.5L run on a heavy behind Fleet Dove and Kisukano who are notable fishes. Seems to struggle on the harder deck so the Mugs are confident she‘s found her race
Race 7 of 10, can you believe this. We’re going Gollan’s runner Gulf Country on top purely because it’s Tony Gollan’s runner. But unfortunately they don’t make it that simple for the Mugs as we’re updating this right now because it’s been scratched. If we’re playing ‘Form Analysts’ we’ve got Adonisea on top, the scratchings help the terrible draw and on form, finished 2nd on debut behind Kiseki Man, we like Elegant Drover earlier in the card from that same form race.
We’re giving Crown War a big sight here, it’s a leader, it handles the heavy, in a field where good form is optional. Should sit pretty from barrier 8 with a lack of speed on the inside; looks to be a horse that’s chasing the wet tracks and we have a wet one here alright.
Gee we don’t want to be ’favourite‘ smashes too much here, but it’s hard to argue with the form of I’m Hitchin Bro from the Tony & Maddy Sears yard. Relishes the Tba track and Ipswich is eerily similar in terms of tightness of turning. Should sit right behind Bambalam who’s looks the early speed and absolute box seat, it’s back the truck up time.
