Well Mugs and Mugettes, after more kick back than a Heavy 45 at Doomben on Saturday on what was apparently a Good 4, we are heading up the highway to the best track of the west, Clifford Park, Toowoomba. An eight race card sets up a nice day for the midweek event with Good 4 conditions and the rail in the true we should be in for a cracking days racing.
We are going to come flying out of the gate here and that is what we hope will be the greatest Reality you can imagine for a Wednesday, yes that’s right - the shorts in the first with the multi banker. Orman was in the wrong part of the track last start at Doomben, if was in better ground there he wins.
Elegant Grace looks a really good bet in the second over this trip. Comes through a prep where it ran fifth over 1400M to Harmony Rose which has since come out and performed pretty well in three subsequent Group Ones. The Lees stable then get Mallyon on and bring her up to Toowoomba which to me suggests she should be ready first up and needs to knock the door down to be considered during the Winter Carnival.
The form from the South generally stacks up this time of year and I am launching again here with Safado. Has a second to Petronius which is super form for this event. We will have a genuine up front speed with No Inudendo, River Rocket and Harryandthetiger, so Safado should get the sit off them. Handles most conditions and has performed well over this trip before. Think he could be pretty classy and will need to dust these off and move on.
With a sixteen horse maiden in the fourth I will be passing and moving on to bigger and better things. For the sicko’s out there, I have in the past been fond off Crayon but jury is out for me so staying away.
The fifth is a deadest track specialist face off and two come to top of my list here with The Minivan and Toucan Sam. I have settled on The Minivan with only one miss over this trip from eight starts, and he has never missed a placing in four starts over this trip at Clifford Park. Home track horse and from the pole I think gets every favour necessary to be a super bet here. Should be able to settle in behind Camarillo and Toucan Sam and will have the burst late to be finishing over the top.
In the sixth event we have a pretty smart one coming to han for ‘back Sears, drink beers’ and Spirit One knows one way and that is lead and make them bleed. We get our main man Sheriden on board here and he gets the claim which puts her right in the mix. We get barrier three here so should be able to lead this lot and while the last hundred metres will be heart in the mouth, at a nice price we’re happy to play each way.
The penultimate event leaves me with two who I would both play and that is King Klaus and Tesarc. You cannot ignore King Klaus who will fly from the draw, lead and could just hold on here but if there is one to run him down then that will surely be Tesarc. Was a bold run in town before striking a heavy track following that and just did not handle it at all, back on the dry here will be running on late.
Short way home in the final race because Dis Dah Wun one race I want to launch into. There is almost no better form in QLD then Centrefire form at the moment and pre that fourth was coming off four straight victories. Deserved favourite here and should be winning this.
